What this trial studies
This pre–post interventional program offers residents of the Concordia Tsat Sing Kong Transitional Housing Estate a combined package of guided physical exercises, gardening activities, health talks, and interactive content on the GO website. Eligible participants aged 10 and older who understand Cantonese and can perform light exercise will complete baseline measures of health awareness, activity levels, happiness, and quality of life, then repeat those measures after the program. The intervention emphasizes walking, stretching, group gardening sessions, and digital engagement to promote sustained healthy behaviors. Participants with serious organic disease, malignant tumors, diagnosed mental disorders, or drug addiction are excluded.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Cantonese-speaking residents aged 10 or older of the Concordia Tsat Sing Kong Transitional Housing Estate who can do light exercise, score above 6 on the Abbreviated Mental Test, and have smartphone and internet access.
Not a fit: People with serious physical illness, malignant tumors, diagnosed mental disorders, drug addiction, or without smartphone/internet access may not benefit or be eligible for the program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help residents increase physical activity, boost happiness, and improve overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Similar community-based combinations of gardening, light exercise, and health education have shown modest improvements in wellbeing in other settings, though results vary by population and program intensity.
