What this trial studies

The trial implements the GRAMPA scale in the geriatrics wards of the Groupe Hospitalier Mutualiste de Grenoble to rate a set of basic movements such as rolling in bed, getting in and out of bed, and sit-to-stand transfers. Trained clinicians will administer the scale to consenting patients aged 75 and over who can follow instructions and perform transfers, collecting standardized scores for each movement domain. The protocol excludes patients with medical or surgical contraindications to transfers, those who cannot understand instructions, and patients under legal protection who cannot consent. Data are intended to document the scale's ability to provide a graded, comprehensive profile of motor abilities to inform rehabilitation planning.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are French-speaking patients aged 75 or older who are hospitalized in the geriatrics department at the Groupe Hospitalier Mutualiste de Grenoble and can understand instructions and give informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients who cannot follow instructions due to sensory or cognitive impairment, who have medical or surgical contraindications to transfers, or who cannot legally consent are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the GRAMPA scale could give clinicians a clearer, more detailed and graded way to measure basic movements and set tailored rehabilitation goals for older patients.

How similar studies have performed: Existing tools like AGGIR, ADL, Tinetti and the Minimum Motor Test measure parts of mobility but do not provide a comprehensive, graded assessment of basic movements, so this approach is relatively novel.
