Global registry for emerging invasive fungal infections
FungiScope - A Global Emerging Fungal Infection Registry
This study is collecting information about invasive fungal infections to better understand how they spread, how they are diagnosed, and how well different treatments work for people affected by them.

What this trial studies
This registry aims to enhance understanding of invasive fungal infections by collecting data on the epidemiology, diagnostic methods, and clinical outcomes associated with these diseases. It will identify the fungal species responsible for infections worldwide and document the clinical patterns and diagnostic procedures used. Additionally, the registry will evaluate therapeutic regimens and their effectiveness while facilitating the sharing of clinical isolates among contributors. Molecular biology tools will also be developed for better strain identification in confirmed cases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with confirmed invasive fungal infections supported by cultural, histopathological, antigen, or DNA evidence.
Not a fit: Patients with infections caused by Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Pneumocystis jiroveci, or those with endemic fungal infections will not benefit from this registry.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for invasive fungal infections, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been various studies on fungal infections, this registry approach is relatively novel in its global scope and focus on emerging infections.
