Global analysis of cardiovascular risk factors and their impact on health

Predicting Cardiovascular Risk by Geographical Region and Sex Using Classical Cardiovascular Risk Factors

Observational Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf · NCT05466825

What this trial studies

The Global Cardiovascular Risk Consortium (GCVRC) is an international collaboration that aggregates individual-level data from over 2 million participants across 133 cohorts in 39 countries. This observational study focuses on classical cardiovascular risk factors such as body mass index, systolic blood pressure, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, smoking, and diabetes, examining their effects on cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality. By analyzing this extensive data, the GCVRC aims to develop region-specific strategies for cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment, enhancing global cardiovascular health outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and older with available data on classical cardiovascular risk factors.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease at baseline will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for preventing cardiovascular disease and reducing mortality worldwide.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success in understanding cardiovascular risk factors, making this approach a continuation of established research.
