What this trial studies

This is an observational, cross-sectional study of adults aged 18–65 diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder at the Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic of Eskişehir Osmangazi University. Participants who consent will complete clinical interviews and standardized questionnaires measuring depression severity, gender-sensitive symptom profiles, psychological resilience, self-stigma, and perceived social stigma. People with intellectual disability, severe neurological disorders, other psychiatric comorbidities, or depression secondary to medical conditions or substance use are excluded. The data will be analyzed to compare symptom expression and stigma/resilience patterns between male and female participants and explore relationships between these factors.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 to 65 with a current DSM-5 diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder who can provide informed consent and attend the outpatient clinic are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People with intellectual disability, severe neurological disorders, other comorbid psychiatric diagnoses, depression caused by a medical condition or substance use, or those outside the 18–65 age range will not be eligible and are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians recognize gender-specific symptom patterns and stigma-related barriers so care and outreach can be better tailored.

How similar studies have performed: Previous research has documented gender differences in depressive symptom expression and stigma, though combining detailed gender-sensitive symptom profiling with resilience and stigma measures in a single outpatient sample is less common.
