What this trial studies

This is a non-interventional, descriptive, cross-sectional study using both retrospective and prospective data collection. It seeks to characterize the demographic, epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic features of about 1,000 patients with histologically confirmed gastric carcinoma in Algeria. Data come from hospital medical records and brief (≈30-minute) patient interviews, with all information anonymized for research use. No experimental treatments are given; the study documents current diagnostic and management practices at participating oncology departments.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 19 or older with a histologically confirmed gastric carcinoma who are followed at one of the participating Algerian oncology departments and can give informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients with non-carcinoma stomach tumors (for example GIST, lymphoma, or sarcoma), secondary gastric tumors, those under 19, or people enrolled in interventional studies are unlikely to benefit from this observational project's findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help clinicians in Algeria detect gastric cancer earlier and make better-informed treatment decisions for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Similar national and international observational registries have successfully clarified patterns of gastric cancer and informed care, though Algeria-specific data have been limited.
