What this trial studies
This project investigates the effects of gardening activities on caregiver stress, self-efficacy, relationships, and parent-child conflict among caregivers of preschool children with developmental delays. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the study addresses the reduced interaction with nature that has hindered sensory development in these children. Caregivers will be randomly assigned to either a gardening group, which will participate in activities for six to eight weeks, or a waiting group. Assessments will be conducted before and after the intervention to evaluate the impact of the gardening activities on both caregivers and children.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include caregivers of preschool children currently undergoing early intervention who are experiencing sensory processing issues.
Not a fit: Children who do not accept early intervention may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance child development and improve caregiver mental health and relationships.
How similar studies have performed: While caregiver-centered interventions have shown benefits in child development, this specific approach using gardening activities is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
