Functional recovery after successful finger replantation

Assessment of Functional Outcomes Following Successful Finger Replantation

Observational Sohag University · NCT07029763

What this trial studies

This is an observational assessment of functional outcomes in patients who underwent successful finger replantation, focusing on objective measures such as grip strength, range of motion, and sensory testing alongside patient-reported outcomes for pain, satisfaction, and daily function. Standardized scoring systems are used where possible, but differences in injury type and patient demographics are noted as factors that complicate direct comparisons. The study enrolls patients with traumatic total digit amputations who received multiple digit replantation and excludes those with multiple-level amputations, severely poor general condition, or mutilating hand injuries. Findings are intended to clarify typical recovery trajectories and to inform surgical decision-making and rehabilitation planning.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are people with traumatic total digit amputations who underwent successful multiple-digit replantation and are medically stable for follow-up testing.

Not a fit: Patients with multiple-level amputations, severely poor general condition, mutilating hand injuries, or those who did not undergo replantation are unlikely to benefit from this protocol.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help patients and surgeons set realistic recovery expectations and guide rehabilitation to maximize hand function after replantation.

How similar studies have performed: Previous observational reports have documented functional gains after finger replantation, but methods and patient populations vary widely, making direct comparisons difficult.
