Full-coverage hybrid ceramic crowns for front-tooth aesthetics
Clinical Performance of Full Coverage Hybrid Ceramic Crowns in the Aesthetic Zone: A Randomized Clinical Trial

What this trial studies
Adults requiring full-coverage crowns in the aesthetic zone are randomized to receive either Shofu HC Hard or Vita Enamic hybrid ceramic crowns fabricated using standardized laboratory protocols. Qualified dental professionals place the restorations with resin cements following a controlled clinical protocol. Participants return for clinical follow-ups at 6, 12, and 18 months to record marginal integrity, color match, retention, surface texture, and any restoration failures. Any identified failures are repaired or remade at no cost and the collected data will be used to compare the clinical performance of the two materials.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 21 or older who need a full-coverage crown in the aesthetic (front-tooth) zone, have adequate oral hygiene, can attend scheduled follow-ups, and do not have active periodontal disease or parafunctional habits.
Not a fit: Patients with active periodontal disease, bruxism, poor oral hygiene, uncontrolled systemic illnesses, or known allergies to the ceramic or cement materials are unlikely to be eligible or to benefit from these specific tested crowns.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the tested crowns could offer improved appearance and longer-lasting restorations with fewer repairs for patients needing front-tooth crowns.
How similar studies have performed: Previous short- and mid-term clinical reports on hybrid ceramic crowns such as Vita Enamic have shown promising aesthetics and acceptable function, but long-term comparative evidence is still limited.
