What this trial studies
This clustered randomized controlled trial aims to assess the effectiveness of distributing Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) and Zinc at home to increase their usage for treating diarrhea in children under five years old in Bauchi, Nigeria. The study will compare the outcomes of families receiving these supplies and information about their importance against those who do not. The intervention includes community sensitization, household visits, and free distribution of ORS and Zinc over a period of six to twelve months. The goal is to improve treatment adherence and health outcomes for young children suffering from diarrhea.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are caregivers aged 15 and older who have at least one child under the age of five and can communicate in English or Hausa.
Not a fit: Patients living in temporary homes or those who cannot provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
