What this trial studies
This project aims to evaluate a new family-based intervention designed to reduce repetitive and inflexible behaviors in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through remote delivery via videoconferencing technology. The study will compare the effectiveness of this intervention, known as FITBI, against a control condition that provides only parental education. Over a 13-week period, participants will receive coaching and support, with follow-up booster sessions to assess long-term outcomes. The research will also explore factors influencing treatment response to enhance personalized intervention strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3 to 9 years with a clinical diagnosis of autism and significant levels of repetitive behaviors.
Not a fit: Patients with serious self-injurious behaviors or those receiving extensive home-based ABA services may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve behavioral flexibility and overall functioning in young children with autism.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise with family-based interventions for autism, but this specific approach using telehealth is relatively novel.
