Factors that lead to blood pressure rises during hemodialysis

Study of Contributing Factors of Intradialytic Hypertension In Hemodialysis Patients at Sohag University Hospitals

What this trial studies

This observational study will follow adults receiving maintenance hemodialysis at Sohag University to identify factors associated with intradialytic hypertension. Blood pressure will be measured before, during, and after each dialysis session and recorded alongside full medical history and routine pre-dialysis laboratory tests. Eligible participants are patients dialyzing three times weekly for at least three months, and investigators will analyze clinical, laboratory, and treatment-related variables to find associations with intradialytic blood pressure increases.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 or older who have been on in-center hemodialysis three times weekly for at least three months and can attend the Sohag University dialysis unit.

Not a fit: Patients dialyzing for less than three months, or with active malignancy, severe infection/sepsis, or major bleeding, are excluded and unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, results could help clinicians identify modifiable risk factors and reduce episodes of blood pressure rises during dialysis.

How similar studies have performed: Prior observational studies have linked intradialytic hypertension to factors like volume status, dialysate composition, and autonomic activation, so this study builds on existing but not definitive evidence.
