What this trial studies

This observational study aims to analyze data from the Kaliningrad Hernia Registry to quantify the risks associated with various surgical techniques for hernia repair, including open non-mesh, open mesh, and minimally invasive surgeries. It will focus on outcomes such as acute postoperative pain, complication rates, chronic postoperative pain, and recurrence rates based on the type of repair and materials used. By examining these factors, the study seeks to provide insights into the most effective treatment approaches for hernias.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients who have undergone any type of hernia repair registered in the Kaliningrad Hernia Registry between January 2020 and December 2023.

Not a fit: Patients with parastomal hernias or infected hernias will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify optimal surgical techniques for hernia repair, leading to improved patient outcomes and reduced complications.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored similar factors in hernia repair, indicating that this approach has potential for meaningful insights, though the specific methodology may be novel.
