What this trial studies

This pilot interventional program delivers an extended cognitive-behavioral group therapy curriculum organized within an ecological systems framework to address uncertainties experienced by emerging adults. Sessions emphasize psychoeducation, skill-building, and core group therapy factors while targeting uncertainty across micro, meso, exo, macro, and chrono systems. Outcomes measured include intolerance of uncertainty, emotion regulation, and anxiety using quantitative instruments supplemented by qualitative feedback. The intervention is preventive in nature and excludes participants with psychotic disorders, active substance use disorders, severe depression requiring additional treatment, or cognitive impairment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Turkish‑speaking undergraduate or graduate students aged 18–29 who report difficulties related to uncertainty and can attend in-person group sessions.

Not a fit: People with schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders, active alcohol or substance use disorders, severe depression that prevents group participation, cognitive impairment, non‑Turkish speakers, or those aged 29 or older are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could reduce intolerance of uncertainty and anxiety and strengthen coping skills among emerging adults.

How similar studies have performed: Cognitive-behavioral and group CBT approaches have shown benefit for anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty in prior research, but combining an extended group CBT program with an ecological systems framework for emerging adults is relatively novel.
