Exploring viral and epigenetic factors in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
Epigenetic Modulation Drives Chronic Type 2 Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyposis: Identifying Markers, Pathogens and Mechanisms
This study is trying to see how viruses and changes in genes affect people with chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps, by comparing them to healthy volunteers.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the role of viral pathogens and epigenetic modifications in the pathogenesis of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). It aims to understand how these factors contribute to Type 2 inflammation and the dysfunction of the epithelial barrier. The study will include patients with T2 CRSwNP undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery, as well as healthy volunteers for comparison. By examining these influences, the research seeks to uncover novel mechanisms underlying T2 diseases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with T2 chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps who are undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with cystic fibrosis or primary immunodeficiencies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, potentially enhancing patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the role of epigenetics in T2 diseases has been explored in other contexts, this specific investigation into CRSwNP and its viral influences is relatively novel.
