What this trial studies
This study investigates the implementation of a value-based healthcare (VBHC) framework in managing psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin disease. It aims to assess the impact of VBHC on patient outcomes and healthcare costs over a one-year follow-up period. New patients attending the specialized psoriasis clinic at Ghent University Hospital will be monitored to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach. The study seeks to address the financial pressures in healthcare by improving the quality of care delivered to psoriasis patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are new patients diagnosed with psoriasis vulgaris who have not previously visited the specialized psoriasis consultation.
Not a fit: Patients with uncertain diagnoses of psoriasis or those who have visited the specialized consultation in the last five years may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved patient outcomes and reduced healthcare costs for psoriasis management.
How similar studies have performed: While the concept of value-based healthcare is established, this specific application in psoriasis management is novel and has not been extensively tested.
