What this trial studies

This qualitative study aims to explore the lived experiences of pediatric intensive care nurses regarding their relationships with caregivers in the PICU. Through individual, in-depth, semi-structured interviews, the study seeks to understand the meaning and dynamics of these relationships, which are crucial for providing emotional support to caregivers during critical times. The research will involve approximately ten pediatric intensive care nurses from Hong Kong, utilizing a descriptive phenomenological approach to capture their insights and experiences accurately.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are full-time registered nurses in Hong Kong with at least 12 months of experience in NICU/PICU who have interacted with caregivers in the past year.

Not a fit: Part-time registered nurses, student nurses, and enrolled nurses will not benefit from this study as they do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of nurse-caregiver dynamics, leading to improved support strategies for caregivers in pediatric intensive care settings.

How similar studies have performed: While similar qualitative studies have explored nurse-caregiver relationships in various contexts, this specific focus on pediatric intensive care is relatively novel.
