What this trial studies
This study investigates the speech, language, and psychosocial factors contributing to stuttering in both monolingual and multilingual speakers. It aims to evaluate innovative treatment methods, including interdisciplinary approaches and telehealth, specifically designed for fluency disorders. The research focuses on understanding the complexities of stuttering and improving clinical training for speech-language pathologists. By addressing these factors, the study seeks to enhance treatment efficacy for individuals who stutter.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 2-17 and adults 18 years and older who stutter and meet specific diagnostic criteria.
Not a fit: Patients who do not exhibit stuttering or do not meet the diagnostic criteria for stuttering may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective treatments for stuttering, improving communication skills and quality of life for affected individuals.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on stuttering treatment, this approach combining interdisciplinary methods and telehealth is relatively novel.
