What this trial studies

This study aims to investigate the relationships between subjective sleep quality, diurnal eating patterns, gut microbiota, and obesity. It will develop and test a cost-effective mobile app designed to promote lifestyle changes through an E-health approach. Participants will be assessed for differences in sleep quality, eating patterns, and gut microbiome at baseline, and changes will be monitored following the intervention across different work schedules. The study seeks to provide a multifactorial understanding of obesity and weight regulation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are community-dwelling adults aged 18 to 65 with a BMI between 18.5 and 30 kg/m2 or those with a BMI greater than 30 kg/m2, including patients with obstructive sleep apnea using CPAP.

Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing antimicrobial treatment or those with inflammatory bowel diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to effective lifestyle interventions that help individuals manage obesity through improved sleep and eating habits.

How similar studies have performed: While there is emerging evidence on the individual factors of sleep, eating patterns, and gut microbiota in obesity, this study's comprehensive approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
