What this trial studies

This observational study investigates how Treg immune cells in the elderly relate to muscle content and cognitive functions. It aims to understand the correlation between different types of fat distribution, such as visceral and subcutaneous fat, and cognitive performance. Participants will undergo cognitive assessments to evaluate these relationships. The study focuses on individuals aged 40 to 90 years old, excluding those with a prior diagnosis of dementia.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 40 to 90 years who do not have a history of dementia.

Not a fit: Patients with a previous diagnosis of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease and other related conditions, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how immune health and body composition affect cognitive function in older adults.

How similar studies have performed: While this study explores a relatively novel approach, previous research has indicated potential links between immune function and cognitive health, suggesting a promising area of investigation.
