What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the correlation between fish protein consumption and dietary habits with the presence of colorectal premalignant lesions in healthy volunteers. It aims to assess gut microbial profiles associated with different dietary patterns to better understand the potential role of fish intake in cancer prevention. Participants will undergo colonoscopy, blood sampling, and dietary questionnaires to gather comprehensive data. The study serves as a preliminary proof-of-concept to evaluate the feasibility of a larger research program focused on colorectal cancer prevention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy individuals aged 45 years or older who are willing to participate in the study.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or those who have had recent colonoscopies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into dietary recommendations that may help prevent colorectal cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited evidence specifically linking fish intake to colorectal cancer prevention, other studies have explored dietary impacts on cancer risk with varying degrees of success.
