What this trial studies

This observational study investigates how social support, strain, and isolation affect both biological and phenotypic aging in survivors of hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) over a one-year recovery period. Participants will undergo comprehensive assessments at 100 days and one year post-transplant, including self-reports of social interactions and symptoms, as well as biological evaluations through blood samples. The study aims to identify modifiable behavioral factors that could lead to interventions improving quality of life and extending healthspan for these individuals.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have received a hematopoietic cell transplant within the last 100 days.

Not a fit: Patients who are younger than 18 years, cannot understand English, or have not received a hematopoietic cell transplant within the specified timeframe will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to interventions that enhance the quality of life and healthspan for hematopoietic cell transplant survivors by addressing social relationship factors.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study may be novel, previous research has indicated that social relationships can significantly impact health outcomes, suggesting potential for success.
