What this trial studies
This observational study aims to understand the lived experiences and psychological effects on children who were diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) two to five years ago. It involves conducting semi-structured interviews with children aged 10 and older to gather qualitative data about their illness and recovery experiences. Participants will also complete a screening questionnaire to assess depressive symptoms. The study is being conducted at two pediatric neurology centers in France, focusing on the long-term psychosocial impacts of GBS.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 10 years or older who were diagnosed with GBS two to five years prior.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological conditions or severe cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the psychological needs of children recovering from GBS, leading to improved support and interventions.
How similar studies have performed: While qualitative studies on GBS are limited, similar approaches in other chronic conditions have shown success in understanding patient experiences.
