Exploring myelin repair in children with multiple sclerosis

Exploring Cortical Remyelination in Children With Multiple Sclerosis

NA · Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris · NCT05258396

What this trial studies

This study investigates the potential for cortical remyelination in children diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) using advanced MRI techniques. It aims to validate imaging methods that can measure myelin repair in vivo, addressing a significant gap in current pediatric MS research. The study will include children aged 12 to 18 years with relapsing-remitting MS and will assess their eligibility based on specific clinical criteria. By understanding the dynamics of myelin repair in this population, the research seeks to inform future therapeutic strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 12 to 18 years diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.

Not a fit: Patients who have neurological conditions other than headaches or psychosomatic syndrome may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and treatment options for children with multiple sclerosis.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on adult MS patients, this approach focusing on pediatric patients and validating imaging techniques for remyelination is relatively novel.
