What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the relationship between microbial diversity in pancreatic tissue and various pancreatic diseases, including pancreatic cancer. By analyzing tissue samples from patients operated on between January 2005 and June 2022, the study aims to identify specific microbial flora associated with different pancreatic conditions. High throughput sequencing will be utilized to characterize the microbial communities present in the pancreatic tissues, providing insights into their potential role in disease development and progression. The findings could lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for pancreatic diseases.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients aged 5 to 85 who have undergone surgery for pancreatic diseases with clear postoperative pathology.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of antibiotic use or probiotics within three months prior to surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance early diagnosis and treatment options for patients with pancreatic diseases.

How similar studies have performed: While studies have explored microbial influences in other diseases, this specific investigation into pancreatic diseases is relatively novel and untested.
