What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the feeding practices of infants and young children among women living in urban and slum areas of Pune, India. It focuses on women aged 18 to 49 years who have infants under 24 months old, examining the appropriateness of their feeding practices and the reasons behind them. Participants will be measured for height and weight, interviewed about socio-demographic characteristics, and engaged in focused group discussions and in-depth interviews to gather insights into their feeding behaviors. The study will take place over two years at urban health care centers and pediatric outpatient departments in Pune.

Inclusion Criteria:

* A woman will be recruited in the study if she

  1. is willing and able to give informed consent
  2. is aged between 18 to 49 years
  3. has an infant or infants less than 2 years of age

Exclusion Criteria:

1. She is unwilling to consent to participate in the study
2. Her infant has any congenital conditions, chronic disorder or has a disorder resulting in difficulty in feeding.
