Exploring how upper body function relates to balance and mobility in Parkinson's Disease

Investigation of the Relationship Between Upper Extremity Function and Balance and Functional Mobility in Parkinson's Disease

Observational Gazi University · NCT06591975

What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the relationship between upper extremity function, balance, and functional mobility in individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD). It aims to include at least 26 participants who will undergo assessments of their demographic characteristics, disease stage using the Hoehn and Yahr Scale, and evaluations of their upper extremity functions, balance, and mobility. The study seeks to understand how impairments in these areas affect daily living activities for those with PD.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease who are in stages 1 to 3 according to the Hoehn and Yahr Scale.

Not a fit: Patients with vision, hearing, or perceptual issues, or those with orthopedic problems affecting the upper extremity, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights that improve rehabilitation strategies for patients with Parkinson's Disease.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific relationship being studied may not have been extensively explored, similar studies have shown that understanding motor function can lead to improved patient outcomes in neurodegenerative diseases.
