What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the impact of physical and psychological stress on the quality of bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy. It involves collecting data from 1000 patients scheduled for colonoscopy at Renji Hospital, where participants will complete questionnaires regarding their demographics, medical history, lifestyle habits, and stress levels. The quality of bowel preparation will be evaluated using the Boston bowel preparation scale (BPS), allowing researchers to analyze the correlation between stress and preparation quality. The ultimate goal is to identify ways to enhance bowel preparation and improve disease detection.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 75 who are scheduled for a colonoscopy and can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of digestive tumors or active inflammatory bowel disease may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved bowel preparation techniques, enhancing the effectiveness of colonoscopy and early disease detection.
How similar studies have performed: While the relationship between stress and bowel preparation quality is being explored, this specific approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
