Exploring how noise influences visual perception

Multistability: Perception is Inspired by Noise

Not applicable Interventional University Hospital, Grenoble · NCT03723044

What this trial studies

This study investigates the phenomenon of multistable perception, where simple visual stimuli can lead to varying interpretations. Participants will undergo a medical interview and then participate in two sessions lasting 2.5 hours each, where their brain activity and eye movements will be recorded while they view these stimuli. The study aims to understand the role of micro-eye movements and noise in perceptual decision-making. By analyzing EEG and eye tracking data, researchers hope to uncover insights into how perception is influenced by these factors.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy adults aged 18 to 55 with normal or corrected vision.

Not a fit: Patients with major vision disorders or neurological conditions are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could enhance our understanding of visual perception and inform therapeutic approaches for perceptual disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study is novel, related research on visual perception and micro-eye movements has shown promising results.
