Exploring how knee pain affects walking

Undersøgelse af sammenhængen Mellem Biomekanik og Smerter Ved Gang

What this trial studies

This interventional study investigates the biomechanics of gait in healthy individuals experiencing experimental knee pain. Participants will receive two types of knee injections: hypertonic saline to induce pain and isotonic saline as a control. Using a randomized, crossover design, the study will analyze changes in walking patterns and pain sensitivity through motion capture and cuff-pressure testing. The goal is to understand how pain influences gait and whether these changes can predict pain intensity.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy men and women aged 18-45 years.

Not a fit: Patients with current pain, neurological or musculoskeletal illnesses, or those who are pregnant will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of pain mechanisms and improve treatment strategies for knee pain.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on gait biomechanics exist, this specific approach using hypertonic saline for pain induction is relatively novel.
