Exploring how genetics affect muscle damage from exercise
Genetic Determinants of Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage (POLYGENDOMUS) / Déterminants Génétiques Des Dommages Musculaires Induits Par L'exercice (POLYGENDOMUS)

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the relationship between genetic variations and muscle damage in athletes following exercise. It focuses on measuring plasma CPK levels before and after muscle-damaging activities to understand how genetic factors influence susceptibility to injury. The research aims to include 300 participants who are members of sports clubs affiliated with Olympic federations. By analyzing genetic polymorphisms, the study seeks to optimize training and performance for elite athletes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy male and female athletes aged 18 to 35 who are members of Olympic-affiliated sports clubs.
Not a fit: Patients with medical histories that contraindicate sporting activities or those currently undergoing medical treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help tailor training programs to reduce the risk of muscle damage and injury in athletes.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific genetic approach may be novel, similar studies have shown that genetic factors can influence exercise-related injuries.
