What this trial studies

This project investigates the relationship between fidgeting and cognitive and emotional functioning in adults diagnosed with ADHD. It aims to determine if movement and the use of a specialized fidget device can enhance cognitive and emotional regulation in a controlled laboratory environment. The study will also gather pilot data for future machine learning analyses to identify specific gestures and touch characteristics that correlate with improved cognitive and emotional outcomes. Ultimately, the goal is to develop recommendations for enhancing performance and emotional control in everyday settings for adults with ADHD.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with ADHD who have a history of fidgeting.

Not a fit: Patients currently taking psychoactive medications (except for ADHD stimulants) or those with significant mental health disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into effective strategies for improving cognitive and emotional regulation in adults with ADHD.

How similar studies have performed: While there is some preliminary evidence suggesting movement can enhance cognitive performance in children with ADHD, this specific approach is novel and has not been systematically tested in adults.
