What this trial studies
This observational study aims to understand the role of doctor-patient partnerships in Singapore's healthcare system, particularly in the context of chronic lung disease. It will gather empirical data through semi-structured interviews with both patients and healthcare workers to explore their perceptions and interpretations of these partnerships. The study will utilize interpretive analysis to assess how these relationships influence medical decision-making and the quality of medical advice provided. Participants will be recruited from the Singapore General Hospital's respiratory and critical care department.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with a confirmed diagnosis of chronic lung disease receiving care at Singapore General Hospital.
Not a fit: Patients without a chronic lung disease diagnosis or those not receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the quality of doctor-patient relationships, leading to improved medical advice and patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the exploration of doctor-patient relationships is a recognized area of interest, this specific qualitative approach in Singapore is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
