What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify risk factors for anxiety and depression in patients suffering from herpes zoster neuralgia. Participants will undergo evaluations using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) to categorize them into groups based on their anxiety and depression levels. The study will collect and analyze clinical data, serum biomarkers, and functional brain MRI results to understand the relationship between these factors and the psychological conditions in affected patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with herpes zoster neuralgia who can provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of mental illness or those unable to complete the scale assessment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of anxiety and depression in patients with herpes zoster neuralgia.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored psychological factors in chronic pain conditions, this specific focus on herpes zoster neuralgia is relatively novel.
