Exercise testing using cardiac MRI for patients with severe aortic stenosis

Exercise CMR in (Paradoxical) Low-flow Low-gradient Aortic Stenosis

Observational University of Göttingen · NCT06129799

What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates patients with paradoxical or conventional low-flow low-gradient aortic stenosis by conducting physiological exercise-stress cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging. Participants will undergo CMR assessments in conjunction with standard surveys before undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The goal is to better understand the physiological responses of these patients during exercise to inform treatment decisions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with paradoxical or conventional severe low-flow low-gradient aortic stenosis.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to undergo CMR due to device limitations, claustrophobia, or significant renal insufficiency may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the assessment and management of patients with severe aortic stenosis, leading to improved outcomes post-TAVR.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research in the area of aortic stenosis, this specific approach using exercise-stress CMR is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
