What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of aerobic and resistance exercises in managing blood glucose levels in pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Participants will engage in a structured exercise regimen that focuses on upper and lower limb muscle exercises, monitored by responsible nurses. Blood glucose levels, including fasting and postprandial measurements, will be tracked to assess the impact of the exercise intervention on glycemic control. The study is conducted at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from March 2023 to May 2024.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes who do not have any contraindications to exercise.
Not a fit: Patients experiencing severe symptoms such as hypoglycemia, abdominal pain, or vaginal bleeding may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved blood glucose management for pregnant women with GDM, enhancing maternal and fetal health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with exercise interventions in managing blood glucose levels in pregnant women with GDM, indicating that this approach is supported by existing evidence.
