What this trial studies

This interventional cohort trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a progressive exercise protocol combined with patient education for individuals suffering from hip abductor tendon pathology. Participants will undergo eight physiotherapist-led exercise sessions over 12 weeks at Horsens Regional Hospital, with additional home exercises to be performed daily. The primary outcome will be assessed using the revised Copenhagen Hip And Groin Outcome Score (HAGOS) to measure changes in hip pain from baseline to follow-up. The study will also explore how different factors like MRI findings and demographics may influence treatment responses.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-75 with MRI-verified hip abductor tendon pathology and a history of lateral hip pain lasting more than six months.

Not a fit: Patients with recent corticosteroid injections, previous hip surgeries, or signs of hip osteoarthritis may not benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce hip pain and improve function for patients with lateral hip pain.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with similar exercise and education interventions for musculoskeletal pain, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
