Examining Turning Patterns in People with Parkinson's Disease
Turning Pattern of Different Body Segments During Turns and Turning Performance in Healthy Adults and People With Parkinson's Disease
This study looks at how people with Parkinson's Disease turn compared to healthy adults to see if there are differences in their movement patterns.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the turning patterns and performance of individuals with Parkinson's Disease (PD) compared to healthy adults. A total of 75 participants, including 25 with PD, 25 young healthy adults, and 25 middle to older adults, will be evaluated using advanced 3D motion analysis technology. The study will assess how different body segments initiate turning and how this relates to overall turning performance. Data will be analyzed to determine correlations and the reliability of the motion analysis system in evaluating turning.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with Parkinson's Disease who can walk independently and turn without assistance.
Not a fit: Patients with neurological disorders or significant cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of turning mechanics in Parkinson's Disease, potentially leading to improved rehabilitation strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While this study explores a specific aspect of turning in PD, similar studies have shown promise in understanding movement disorders, though this particular approach may be novel.
