What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the prevalence of thoracic aorta dilatation in older individuals over the age of 35 who have at least five years of weightlifting experience. It will categorize participants into three groups based on their weightlifting styles: bodybuilders, cross-fit athletes, and power lifters. By analyzing these groups, the study seeks to provide insights into how different weightlifting practices may relate to thoracic aorta health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 35 and older with a minimum of five years of weightlifting experience.

Not a fit: Patients under the age of 35 or those with less than five years of weightlifting experience will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of cardiovascular risks associated with long-term weightlifting in older adults.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited studies specifically targeting this demographic, similar observational studies have successfully identified health risks associated with physical training in older adults.
