Examining the timing of exercise rehabilitation for COPD patients
Effect of Time of Exercise Re-training on Functional Capacity in Individuals With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
This study is testing whether the time of day that COPD patients do their exercise rehab makes a difference in how much stronger and healthier they become.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of timing on pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It aims to determine how the time of day for exercise re-training affects strength, power gains, and aerobic capacity in individuals with respiratory diseases. The program involves at least 18 rehabilitation sessions over four weeks, supervised by medical professionals at the Clinique de la Mitterie. The study focuses on understanding the relationship between circadian rhythms and exercise outcomes in COPD patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who are registered for respiratory rehabilitation.
Not a fit: Patients with cardiovascular contraindications to exercise or unstable respiratory status may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the effectiveness of pulmonary rehabilitation, leading to better health outcomes and reduced hospital readmissions for COPD patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that the timing of exercise can influence training outcomes, suggesting potential for success in this novel approach.
