Examining the role of exosomes released by platelets
Characterization of Exosomes Platelets-released

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to characterize platelet-derived extracellular vesicles (exosomes) and their role in cardiovascular disease. It will enroll 54 subjects from Centro Cardiologico Monzino IRCCS and analyze blood samples to assess the impact of antiplatelet agents on exosome release and content. The study will collect biographical and anthropomorphic data alongside fasting blood samples for haematochemical analyses. The goal is to enhance understanding of exosomes as potential biomarkers for clinical diagnostics.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy individuals without known pathologies.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of various diseases, including gastrointestinal, hepatic, urogenital, hematological, immunological, renal, metabolic, respiratory, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, or those with permanent organ damage, will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic tools for cardiovascular diseases through the identification of exosome biomarkers.
How similar studies have performed: While the role of exosomes in cardiovascular disease is an emerging field, this specific approach to characterizing platelet-derived exosomes is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
