What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between pelvic floor disorders and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders by assessing various parameters affecting functionality in both areas. It will involve 59 women aged 20-50 who visit the Istanbul Research and Training Hospital's Gynecology and Obstetrics Polyclinic. The study will evaluate pelvic floor dysfunction, muscle activation, joint mobility, and pain, alongside similar assessments for the TMJ. The findings may highlight the importance of coordinated exercise approaches for treating dysfunctions in these interconnected regions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 20-50 who have sought treatment for pelvic floor or TMJ disorders.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, menopausal, or have serious underlying health conditions affecting pelvic floor functions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies for patients suffering from both pelvic floor and TMJ disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific relationship between pelvic floor and TMJ disorders is less explored, related studies have shown the interconnectedness of musculoskeletal issues, suggesting potential for success in this novel approach.
