What this trial studies

This project investigates how hand grip strength and trunk control relate to functional performance in individuals aged 12-18 with mild intellectual disability. It aims to measure grip strength and trunk control levels, assessing their impact on daily living activities. By comparing these individuals with healthy peers, the study seeks to identify key physical factors that influence motor control and independence. The findings could inform the development of targeted rehabilitation programs to enhance the quality of life for this population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 12-18 with a clinical diagnosis of mild intellectual disability who can perform hand grip strength measurements.

Not a fit: Patients with impaired trunk control due to orthopedic or neurological disorders, or those with psychological conditions that hinder participation, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation strategies that enhance daily functioning and independence for individuals with mild intellectual disability.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored aspects of motor control in individuals with disabilities, this specific focus on the relationship between grip strength, trunk control, and functional performance is relatively novel.
