Examining the link between fatty liver disease and kidney inflammation in adults
Assessment of the Association Between Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease MFLD and Glomerulonephritis

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the prevalence of Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MFLD) in patients over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with biopsy-proven primary glomerulonephritis. The study will evaluate the association between these two conditions, considering factors such as obesity and metabolic syndrome that may contribute to the development of fatty liver disease in this population. By analyzing patient data, the study seeks to identify potential risk factors and improve understanding of the relationship between kidney and liver health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with biopsy-proven primary glomerulonephritis.
Not a fit: Patients with secondary glomerulonephritis, significant obesity, diabetes, or other specified exclusions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better management strategies for patients with glomerulonephritis, potentially reducing the risk of fatty liver disease.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing literature on the relationship between metabolic syndrome and kidney disease, this specific association has not been extensively studied, making it a novel approach.
