Examining the Isometry of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Using a Dynamic Scanner

Study of the Isometry of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament From the Center of the Native MRI Insertion Reported on Dynamic Scanner

Not applicable Interventional Centre Hospitalier Universitaire, Amiens · NCT06996145

What this trial studies

This study investigates the isometry of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) by utilizing a dynamic 4D scanner to analyze the distance between the centers of the native ACL footprints during knee flexion. The goal is to determine if the traditional assumption of isometric positioning in ACL reconstruction is valid. If the absence of isometry is confirmed, the study aims to develop software that assists surgeons in preoperatively planning an isometric reconstruction. This approach could enhance the precision of ACL surgeries and improve patient outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy volunteers aged 18 or older who can provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone knee ligament reconstruction or have specific knee conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate ACL reconstruction techniques, potentially improving recovery and function for patients.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have not been widely reported, indicating that this may be a novel investigation.
