What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the functional and clinical outcomes of patients who have undergone unilateral medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction at least two years post-operation. It aims to evaluate the presence of kinesiophobia, a fear of movement, and its relationship with the patients' functional status. By measuring postoperative outcomes, the study seeks to provide insights into how psychological factors may influence recovery in this patient population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals who have undergone unilateral MPFL reconstruction and are at least two years post-surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with patellar instability, knee or ankle ligament injuries, meniscus injuries, knee osteoarthritis, ankle osteoarthritis, or any neurological diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of the psychological factors affecting recovery, leading to improved rehabilitation strategies for patients after MPFL reconstruction.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific relationship between kinesiophobia and functional outcomes post-MPFL reconstruction may be novel, similar studies have shown that psychological factors can significantly impact recovery in orthopedic patients.
