What this trial studies
This study investigates how the use of adult day services impacts stress levels in Black informal caregivers of individuals with dementia. It aims to assess both subjective and physiological measures of stress among 50 participants who are primary caregivers for family members diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. The study will focus on the unique experiences of Black caregivers and how adult day services can alleviate their stress. Participants will be recruited from adult day service centers across the nation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Black informal caregivers aged 18 or older who care for a family member with a dementia diagnosis and utilize adult day services at least twice a week.
Not a fit: Patients who are caregivers for individuals in active treatment for terminal illnesses or hospice care may not benefit from this study.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * 18 years or older (male or female) * Self-identify as Black and/or African American, * Lives with a family member with a physician diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or related dementia * Primary responsibility for care of the family member who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia * Utilize Adult Day Services at least two times a week for family member with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia Exclusion Criteria: * Either caregiver of client is in active treatment for a terminal illness or are in hospice.
