Examining shoulder muscles in hemiplegic patients using elastography
Evaluation of Shoulder Region With Share-Wave Ultrasound Elastography in Patients With Hemiplegia
This study is testing how the shoulder muscles of adults with hemiplegia are affected compared to their healthy side to better understand the changes that happen with the condition.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the muscles and tendons of the shoulder on the plegic side of patients with hemiplegia through elastography. Patients over 18 years old with hemiplegia will be assessed for various factors including age, gender, and disease duration. The study will compare elastography results of the affected shoulder with the healthy side to investigate the relationship between disease progression and shoulder lesions. The findings could provide insights into the muscular changes associated with hemiplegia.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who have hemiplegia and meet specific health criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with rheumatic diseases, neurological deficits, or recent shoulder treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of shoulder complications in hemiplegic patients, potentially leading to improved management strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While elastography has been used in various musculoskeletal assessments, this specific application in hemiplegic patients is relatively novel.
