What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the Q angle in patients diagnosed with osteoporosis and osteopenia, comparing these measurements to those in patients with osteoarthritis. The study employs a goniometer for Q angle measurement, assesses pain using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), evaluates lower extremity muscle strength with the Medical Research Council (MRC) Scale, and examines foot posture through the Foot Posture Index (FPI). The goal is to fill a gap in the literature regarding the relationship between Q angle and these conditions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 40-65 diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia.

Not a fit: Patients with patellofemoral abnormalities or a history of lower extremity surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of the biomechanics in osteoporosis patients, potentially leading to improved management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: There is currently no existing literature evaluating the Q angle in osteoporosis patients, making this a novel investigation.
