What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the health-related quality of life and decision-making processes of patients with prostate cancer undergoing PSMA PET imaging. It employs a longitudinal mixed methods approach, collecting quantitative survey data on anxiety, uncertainty, and quality of life, followed by qualitative interviews to gain deeper insights into patient experiences. The study will gather clinical and sociodemographic data through automated extraction from medical records and manual entry when necessary.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include English-speaking patients diagnosed with prostate cancer who are scheduled for their first PSMA PET scan.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to access a mobile device or computer for surveys, or those participating in a clinical trial for their PET scan, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of patient experiences and improve the quality of care for prostate cancer patients undergoing PET imaging.
How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on patient experiences, similar studies have shown success in understanding patient perspectives in cancer imaging, making this approach relevant and potentially impactful.
